Even in an economy that is tight, the best companies still need qualified people to work for them. If you’re a smart career hunter, you don’t need to be lucky. You’ll make your own luck.

Select a career goal before you start looking for a job. Searching for a job without actually knowing what you want to do will not likely get you into the field you are reaching toward.

When you speak of your career goals, you don’t need to try to tailor your schooling and experience to broaden the areas in which you can possibly help a prospective employer. If you are very good in a certain field, then use that as your way to get your foot in the door. Otherwise, you sound needy, looking for any position a given company has open at the moment.
